Staff is all-important

According to the leading recruitment companies, in 5-10 years the structure of demand for experts in oil branch may strongly change. Today the oilmen already experience critical need of qualified drillers in the shelf area, steel-works experts, labour safety, safety measures and ecology. Western companies also set cap on such experts since they face lack of the engineering staff.

The rare professions in high demand «Safety of extraction and transportation of oil and gas» become the subject of serious public discussions more and more often. The fixed attention to oil-and-gas projects causes amendments in a labour market. As the chief of the recruitment company ANCOR Energy Services, Konstantin Borisov, says, experts in the field of labour safety, safety measures and ecology (HSE — Health, Safety and Environment) are now in the highest demand in oil-and-gas companies. William French, the managing director of the American power industry recruitment company Preng and Associates, adds that extraction engineers in the know of the commercial aspect of this process, are much in demand now. “This is what students have not been taught recently”, points out Mr. French.

Application of new technologies of liquefaction of gases (LNG and GTL) opens another niche for experts. Growing deficiency of employees of project management departments is felt. In the future projects with the total cost of 50-200 billion dollars will critically need managers able to finish the project in time and bring profit, which was not an obligatory condition earlier.
